?

When my mom and stepdad were here last week, my mom and I did some shopping at the mall on Monday, the day before they went home to Oregon. While at the mall, my mom bought me a new pair of jeans. She's nice like that.

I wore the jeans to work on Tuesday.

I have not seen them since.

They are not in any of my drawers.

They are not under my bed.

They are not in my hamper.

They are not in my closet.

They are not in the washer or the dryer.

They are not anywhere that I can find.

I was wearing them the day my mom and stepdad flew home, so they could not have accidentally gone to Oregon.

As far as I remember, I did not take my pants off at work, so I'm thinking I did not leave them at the office.

It's a total mystery.

Have you checked the kids' drawers? the floor of a closet? behind the couch or wherever you fold laundry? This happens to me all the time. Usually I have to stop looking before I have a shot at finding it, although I still haven't found my son's hat that was last seen in January.

My daughter (14 mos) is obsessed with dragging around random articles of my clothing (generally she'll root through my dresser drawers to find the perfect thing) so whenever I can't find something, it usually turns up under the changing table or twisted around her teddy bear or some such.

Of course it had to happen to the new pair of jeans, didn't it?!

Maybe they went where ever your socks go when when takes off on you unexpectedly...

What a bummer! I bet you find them soon!

Someone else had my suggestion: the kids' drawers. I often have this happen to me and usually find the missing item in some unusual spot. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in misplacing items.

I thought my husband was the only person who could "lose" clothes.

Did you check your pantry? Or under the slipcovers of your couch? Don't ask how i'd think to check there....

Have you looked BEHIND the washer and dryer? Might be worth a shot--I always find all KINDS of treasures back there!

did you check the toy box? or a gymbag or diaper bag or any other bag you may have put them in?

If you find them, could you look for my red 3/4 sleeve cardigan? It's been missing for months and it's just as likely it's where your jeans are as anyplace else.

hmmm, and the plot thickens... :-)

OMG, what a mystery - how do things disappear completely? I swear, there's gotta be a 4th or 5th dimension that will explain all these mysterious disappearances.

Stroller perhaps? You have been talking about running lately, so maybe that's where they are after a quick change. Was Tuesday night the night you were drinking wine and doing t-tapp? If so, they really could be anywhere. Other than that, it sounds like a good excuse to go buy another pair. That way they are sure to turn up and then you'll have two!

I don't know what this says about me but have you checked the refrigerator... sounds stupid, I know.

Oh gosh. That's weird
Hopefully you will find it hidden somewhere

I cannot tell you how many times this has happened to me. I'm betting behind the couch. That's where Caius hides all our stuff.

Give us an update when you find them! What a mystery!

When you find your jeans, can you check to see if my 6 year old's brand new jeans and sweater are with them? Although, I am going to take Eliza's suggestion as that's a pretty good one and behind the washer and dryer is the one place I didn't think to look (nor did I check the fridge but I'm pretty confident that's not it!).

I just spit diet pepsi all over my keyboard.

If you find them could you ask them about my jeans as well?

Hmm. If it were me, it would turn out I was wearing them.

I once found a pair of my underwear in the microwave of my twins play kitchen. Any chance your two have a play kitchen?!?!?!

Regardless of your religion (or lack thereof, as the case may be), I highly recommend turning to St. Anthony in these instances. You say, out loud,

"Something's lost
which must be found
Please, St. Anthony
look around
and find my brand new jeans."

And you'll be going along doing your thing, and suddenly you'll think, "Oh, I wonder if I checked _________," and there they will be.

When that happens, you MUST say, out loud, "Thank you, St. Anthony," because while St. Anthony doesn't care if you're pagan, Jewish, atheist, Catholic, or B'Hai, he DOES care if you have poor manners.

:)

I've found missing clothes in a fitted sheet or duvet cover that I've washed them with, did you wash them with any of those items?

Hmmmm. Under one of the kids' beds/cribs?

I realize this is likely only funny to me, but my husband (like many) had difficulty finding, well, many things. When he would ask me where something was, my stock reply was, 'did you check up your butt?' I'm assuming you would know if that's where your jeans were, though.

I hate not being able to find stuff!

django's mommy, are you kidding? That is going to be funny to a lot more people besides you. Or maybe you and I are the only ones with a 14-year-old boy's sense of humor. ;-)

Maybe I should ask St. Anthony for my keys. I let ASH play with them today (I know, so stupid) and now they are gone. Last time I went almost a week before I thought to look in the place where he knows the keys go (my bag) but they are not there this time. Sigh.

Good luck!
