My coping mechanism for the past two nights? Eat a big bowl of homemade apple crisp with vanilla ice cream for dinner. Fruit, dairy, carbs . . . what else does a girl need, really?
Oh, that sounds good. And we just went apple picking yesterday...
I left you an award/meme over on my blog. You can feel free to ignore it, though I also passed it along to Gio and TMAAB who will probably bug you with it, too. You know, if they play :)
Apple crisp does sound like the perfect stress-reliever!
We have a number of apple trees which we make into apple crisp and freeze. With over 24 in the freezer this year, quick math says we need to eat one every other week. That's a goal worth working toward!
I've been away a bit and returned to find several posts from you. So commenting on the apple orchard one that appears a bit down, may I just suggest (sorry if this is assvice) that if Maddie and Riley are afraid of dogs that it might be worth working with someone to help them overcome this? Because heaven knows I know what you really need is one more problem to tackle. But, really...I have no idea of your position on this issue and yes, dogs can be dangerous (though most aren't most of the time), but honestly, they are probably more dangerous to people who are afraid of them (who are more likely to engage in behaviors that strike dogs as inviting aggression) than to people who aren't, and, well, it's a sad thing to go through life afraid of something that's around so much and that can bring much joy. Honestly, were it me, this is a problem I'd tackle as soon as practical...though of course it's not me, so, YMMV.
I've never really had a sweet tooth, but then anonymous #2 had to go and point out potato chips with French onion dip, and now I have no choice but to go to the grocery store and stock up.
Not that I'm sad about that -- it does mean I'll get to have chips and dip later!
maybe it has something to do with the change in seasons, because I've felt the same way. Except I bet my Hagen Daz Caramel Cone Explosion ice cream is doing more damage than your apple crisp.
I'm a total comfort eater. Apple crisp is the best. Hope you can relax this weekend. Is it a long one for you??? That would be awesome. Thinking of you.
i don't think I've made a single meal for myself since Cam left on Monday morning. Well, breakfast. Apple Crisp sounds balanced to me!
Also: I just had a pop-up on your site asking me to complete a Nielson survey -?! Is this normal on blogs? (I don't care, btw, it's just the first time I'd encountered it).
My son, now almost 4, was terrified of dogs until he was about 3. All dogs, big small, friendly, energetic, old or lazy dogs. Every dog. He outgrew it all on his own and now loves to play with them. I wouldn't rush the "dog fear therapy" just yet. Give the kids some time. Imagine you stood, what, maybe 2 feet tall and look at the dog from the kids' perspective -- terrifying! Be patient and they may just outgrow it on their own.
God, Snick. If you keep up this destructive, inappropriate behavior we are just going to have to to TAKE THAT SPOON RIGHT THE FUCK away from you! Oh wait, I see you did include vanilla ice cream. My bad. Carry on.
You just get the dickiest commenters sometimes. My condolences.

That's my coping mechanism for EVERYTHING this time of year! Either that, or a big bowl of popcorn with lots of butter and salt.
Hope the stress abates soon!
Some spiked drinks!
I'll bring 'em tomorrow!

You don't need much more than that, girlfriend. Sounds awesome. Yummy!
Completely support your coping mechanism. May need you to share the recipe for my own coping skills, haha.
Well, chocolate. A girl needs chocolate. And perhaps potato chips. With French onion dip.
I've eaten a half gallon of ice cream in about three days..... must be that time of year or something.
I'll be thinking of you; comfort food really does comfort, and mine is chicken soup with homemeade noodles.
Sounds like a good coping mechanism to me!

Sounds yummy. Have you tried the warm banana pudding yet? It'll make that apple crisp ala mode look absolutely healthy. :)

Oh dear. Just had to go to allrecipes.com and find an apple crisp recipe!!! So easily tempted....
Don't forget that you have a good portion of fiber in there too if there are oats in your recipe! ;)
mmmmmmmmm....

Sounds really good to me. Wish I had some.
Snick... sorry for the stress- yuck. No fun. YAY for homemade apple crisp, however.
Apple crisp is one of the best parts of fall.
Apples have fiber!
What else does a girl need???? Maybe a nice glass of cold chardonnay to wash down the apple crisp?! Hang in there...
Could be worse. Keep on doing whatever you need to do.

Looks like my lunch plans are made!
thinking of you and hoping whatever is causing your stress abates soon.
