Tomorrow I am not going to work.
Instead, I'm going to Chicago to spend the weekend with my sister-in-law.
Maddie and Riley will be spending the weekend with some very good, very kind, very brave friends here in greater Boston who have twins of their own, boy/girl twins who are six months older than M&R. Twinapalooza, baby.
While in Chicago, I plan to:
sleep
eat
drink
exercise
wear my pajamas a lot
generally relax
I had thought about seeing if my SIL was up for trying to get tickets to the Cubs game on Saturday afternoon, or maybe going to the Art Institute or blah blah blah, and while those would be fun things to do, I think what I really need is just a break from DOING all the time. Of course, I've had to DO extra to get ready to go, but that's OK.
I remain woefully behind on e-mail, although I'm making inroads. Part of my weekend break includes not touching a computer, though, so I risk falling further behind. I'll get caught up eventually. I'll also eventually start playing Scrabulous again. Anyone waiting for a message from me or a move on the Scrab board: be patient. All in due time.
Have a wonderful weekend. More next week.

Have a wonderful weekend yourself! You've earned it.
Hi, a new reader here. I found you through the CNN article a few days ago (a week?) Anywho...I'm embarrassed to say that I've combed through all of your archives...yea... I love your blog and your writing. Oh and what I actually came to comment about...have a great, well-deserved weekend away!
Have a great trip! R&R is just what you need.
I would have to second slaloms and say...i found you thru the CNN article and went thru your archives. I live in Chicago! enjoy your weekend here the weather is supposed to be sort of reasonable...for chicago, that is.

Enjoy your weekend!
Have a safe and relaxing trip!
I hear you. For my birthday, I was spending the weekend with my mother and my brother-in-law and his family were taking the kids. My mom wanted to schedule all this stuff, and I just told her let's not plan anything so I can just relax.
have a good weekend!
I did this on mother's day weekend. Holed up in a nice hotel room in San Francisco while my friends went to baseball games and shopping. I spent the day wandering around ALONE, then loafing in bed ALONE all day long. It was wonderful. You deserve it. Enjoy!
enjoy your break! I just started reading your blog after the article on CNN, and now I check back every day!
I live in Chicago, and if you have the energy you might want to check out Mayfest. It's fun and cheap, you can enjoy the cheesy 80s cover bands and nice weather. Located on Barry and Ashland!
Enjoy,
Catherine

Have a great weekend!!
You must do something girly! Mani/pedi's, chick-flicks, ice-cream, you know what I mean.
Enjoy and breath in deeply.

Like so many others, I found you through the CNN article. You are such a brave and inspiring woman (with adorable children)! Have a great time in Chicago!
Oh - and I'm looking forward to your review on next week's Idol finale!
Have a wonderful, self-centered, fabulous only you weekend. If any one deserves it you do ;)
I hope the trip goes well for you!
We are behind you in IDOLS here in SA so glad u put IDOLS in your title so I don't read that post.
Hope you had a fab time!!
As someone who lives in chicagoland i will tell you that if you can get cubs tickets - go to the game - it is a blast and a great way to relax - plus you can eat and drink (a lot) there so you can cross two things off your list! maggie
I absolutely LOVE Chicago - and I ahve to fly all the way from California to get my occasional fix.
One thing you might like to do would be to take the architectural river tour ... it's fascinating, but also very relaxing. If you have some warm weather, you can practically doze off as you listen to the docent (usually a grad student of architecture) relay some interesting stories of the history of the city - while drifting along the river.
Have a wonderful time whatever you do - and I bet the twins will have lots of fun, too!

Hope your weekend in the Windy City was fun!
To me, a vacation is being able to sit still for as long. as. I. want.
Hope you got plenty of that.
