Date #6: The Date that Turned the Week Around

Yesterday was a great day. Finally.

Maddie, Riley, and I spent the morning breakfasting at Dunkin' Donuts, delivering the completed math project to my office, and taking a walk to the grocery store in the gorgeous October sun. We all took a nap, after which we met friends for ice cream and much frolicking at the park. Then we headed home and had time for dinner and a quick shower for Mama before Mr. Coffee arrived.

He came bearing gifties from his travels: lots of chocolate for all of us. Riley is a total chocoholic, so he was especially thrilled. I managed to get the kids to go down despite the pre-bed chocolate-fest, and then Mr. Coffee and I spent some nice time catching up with each other about what had happened over the past two weeks. Lots of talking, lots of kissing, many proclamations of how much we had missed each other and how often we had thought of one another. "I thought of you on the airplane, during my meetings, at the hotel . . . " he said. It was quite lovely.

As for the rest of the evening, I will just say this: for those of you who advised that sex is the best way to get that NuvaRing up where it needs to be, you are totally correct.

Mr. Coffee was still jet-lagged from his travels and exhausted from getting in late Friday and then having his kids Saturday and Sunday, so he didn't stay all that late. After he left, I made some tea and ate some chocolate and then went to bed early and promptly fell into a deep sleep. I woke up with a start at 3:30 a.m., wishing that he were still there.

Date #7 is scheduled for Friday night, a sleepover at his house. I'm lucky enough that the twins' daycare provider is more than happy to do overnights for me; she's like a grandmother to the twins and a mom to me, and she's so happy that I'm dating someone. She'd be glad to watch the kids no matter what the reason, but she's especially pleased to watch them so that I can get a little break. I'm looking forward to it.

Still not a word from Mr. Tango. L-A-M-E.

Mr. Tango is clearly not even worth typing his name. :-) Glad you had fun with Mr. Coffee, though! After that week, you totally deserved a good night. (Not that you wouldn't, otherwise, but you know what I mean.)

Top bombing.

Does Dunkin' Donuts still exist? Hold-that, what a stupid question. But you don't see them much in The UK anymore.

Glad you had a stonking day, good on you and let's hope you can top it with date 7!

Greater Boston is the Dunkin' Donuts capital of the world. Honestly, you can't go more than two blocks without seeing one. I think this is the only place in the US (and perhaps the world!) where you find them in such abundance.

M&R love egg & cheese sandwiches on multigrain bagels. And blueberry muffins. And anyplace I can get coffee is a good place.

i find sex is the best way to get an awful lot of things in the right place, including my mental state at times!
Now if only I could find a consenting partner...

Totally excited for you and Mr. Coffee's Friday sleepover!

Dunkin' Donuts pulled out of the UK many years ago, sad to say. I was raised with DD in Massachusetts so enjoyed buying an occasional doughnut and coffee when they were all over central London.

dude... totally glad that Tango guy didn't show up... was not rooting for him AT ALL. :-) Makes Mr. Coffee seem so much more darling, doesn't it?

Yay - and bringer of chocolate is all good in my book.

who needs a tango when you've got someone to bring you fancy chocolates and some good lovin'

Best wishes for your awaydate sleepover. Guilt used to creep up on me from time to time then - which it never did when I had to travel with work.

Parenting undeniably does strange things to your reasoning, over time. But hey, you've got to look after yourself sometimes.

Man+Chocolate+sex = wonderful. Sounds like the perfect ending to a crappy week. Or I guess the perfect start to an even better week!. Yay for Friday!

Mr Tango doesn't realize it takes two to tango apparently.

JK said...

Oh, and yay for Mr. Coffee!

I TOLD you a girl needs chocolate. But I swear, if he ever shows up with potato chips and French onion dip, then it's official. He's the one.

mmmm ... he just sounds dreamy.

Sounds like a nice ending to an intense weekend.

Funny to read about the chocolate after Jrex and I vowing to not have it again. But, then, Mr. Coffee probably bought it at the source...inherently fair trade?

Julia said...

Mmmm... chocolate. Good for you. :)

Laughing at Single Parent Dad's question. Honey, here in Mass people are obsessed with Dunkin' Donuts. DD has apparently put something in the coffee here that turns the populace into brand slaves. More people go to the Double D than church.

Careful how high up that nuva ring goes--sometimes it's hard to extract it!

Glad your week is turning around!

Also, this post made me miss Dunkin' Donuts. Not like we don't have them in the DC area, but you sure can't find them every two blocks like you can in Boston!

Lawd, Snick, I haven't been over here in months. And now this! Wonderful news! My lack of attendance says nothing about how often I think of you and all you've been through.
Three cheers for you, m'dear.

I am now totally jonesing for a powder-covered, chocolate creme filled but our Dunkin' Donuts closed about a year ago. I am jealous. Yay! that things are getting back to good for you.

Welllll perhaps that was karma's way of saying "Stick with Coffee, dancing is overrated"

I am so happy for you.

Steph said...

So happy for you Snick! But I have to say, Rhode Island surely rivals Massachusetts in the Dunkin Donuts Density Department. :)

I'm glad to hear things are going great with Mr. Coffee!

Would you consider telling us why the Mirena didn't work? I'm considering an IUD after I have my baby and am trying to gather data points. So far the Mirena seems to fall into the love it or hate it category, which doesn't give me much confidence.

Who needs Mr. Tango when you've got Mr. Coffee? I like him more every time you write about him. I'm hoping you guys will make it exclusive (if that's what you want ;)!!

Does Mr "Coffee Ring" know how helpful he was?
Glad you had a great time, you certainly deserve it!
