I sat in my car for almost ten minutes before I went in to meet him, thinking, "What the hell am I doing?"
My rings stayed home. On Saturday, I wore all three rings on my necklace, and I really liked the way it looked and it felt OK not to be wearing my own rings on my finger. But when Sunday rolled around, I wanted to wear a different necklace and it didn't feel right for me to wear my wedding rings on my hand, so I left all the rings at home. Today I'm wearing all three rings on my necklace, which I think is going to be my new usual.
He's really tall, definitely over 6'. I felt like an elf.
He got chocolate ice cream.
He walked me to my car, and his parting words were, "I like you." (It sounded better in person.)
I'll be disappointed if that's the last I hear from him, but no matter what may come of things, I feel like moving forward on the dating front is the right thing to be doing.

I am glad for you.
Good for you, Snick. It's good experience (and blog fodder!), if nothing else. I've had dates like that, full of promise and hope and just good times. Keep us posted.
Thanks for all the details. I'm so glad to hear that it went well. Glad that he wasn't a disappointment. I'm bummed that he travels a lot. It must be hard to have to wait so long for the next time.
Yay! And I think "I like you" is one of the nicest things to say to someone. People just don't say that often enough.
Good for you.
I'm so glad you did it on your own timing. You took your time and waited til you were ready.
Thanks for including us on your new journey!
So happy that things are going well!!!
Good on you, Snick! It all must have been a bit weird, but it sounds like it went really well. If anyone deserves for such things to go well, it is you!
sounds PERFECT ... low key and not too threatening.
And the best part ... it gave you the confidence to realize that you are doing the right thing.
I'm so proud of you!
I agree with previous writer, I think him saying "I like you" is neat. It sounds like it went really well and you had fun and you can hear some excitement in your writing. At least it went well enough that you both would like to hear from each other. And yes, keep us posted!
I'm so glad you have some peace about this decision! If nothing else comes of this fellow, I think that is a HUGE thing. YAY!
Very, very nice. Congratulations on a successful toe in the water ;)

glad you had a good time!!
I really like "I like you!" And at this stage in the game, a little bit of (travel-forced) time betwixt meetings may not be such a bad thing...after all, it got you thinking/evaluating enough to do this secondary post!
Thank you for telling us your thoughts. :)
Congratulations on the big step! (And thanks for the details...nothing like living vicariously from the couch.)
Just from the way you've always described John as your best friend, the awesome relationship you had, I think he would want this for you right now. That piece of him that is always watching over you, is nudging you on.
happy for you.
amazed by you.
inspired by you.
no matter what comes next.

One of the best gifts you can give your kids is for you to be happy. It's brave of you to put yourself out there to meet new people, and I'm glad to hear that your first date went so well. Best wishes!

My late husband told me I was the 'most interesting person' he'd met in a while, and I was totally smitten. :) I think 'I like you' is very, very sweet.
I am SO happy you had such a good time! Yay! (It also selfishly gives me hope that there are good guys still out there.)
