V-Day

Happy Valentine's Day. I'm not particularly oozing love today, but I did manage to send a Valentine to all of my Facebook friends. That was about all the cheer I could muster.

John and I were never really into Valentine's Day, as I've documented before. We just liked to be together; we didn't need to do anything in particular to make that special. Plus we were just never gift-givers. Valentine's Day for us was about a nice meal, some wine, and a quiet evening together.

Tonight I will be joined by friends for some Thai takeout, some ice cream, and a movie. It will be nice, and the kind of evening John and I would have had together.

I need to get the broken vase from yesterday out of the living room. I did not have the energy last night to do anything more than vacuum up the dust and collect the busted pieces into a pile. I think I'm going to save the larger broken bits; I'd like to put a tile backsplash behind my kitchen sink, and I'm wondering if pieces of the broken vase could be incorporated into that.

I'm glad you are going to do something John would've liked. And the vase/tile concept is a great idea!

After your day yesterday, You deserve a night of good Thai Takeout!

The idea about the tile backsplash is wonderful. I am sure it will look great.

If not a backsplash . . . I'm sure you could make it into some kind of mosaic art item. "Evolution of a vase" . . .

Yes, if we could live together... that would be wonderful. And yes, we ARE quite the Valentine's pair, aren't we? Something in the cosmic twist of fate screwed up BIG. HUGS! LN and I are sending you, M and R lots of hearts and kisses!

I wish you a quiet, peaceful night. My little guy is two days older than yours, and he's been in such a terrible phase that our evenings have been nothing but tears and angst and tears. It helps for me to see you write so honestly about your kids.

Hi Snick.. Thanks for this post (and for the comments on mine). It is sometimes tough to write about our realities, but it is nice to hear folks care. Thanks for sharing this. I don't at all mind hearing about your struggles and moments in life where honesty is a bit brutal. I guess that is what you were trying to say to me the other day.

I hope you are having a good time with your friends and your thai food. I have a friend who constantly breaks things she no longer wants (or takes accidentally broken things)in their current form to mosiac them into table tops, on lamp bases, in stepping stones. I love this idea because it helps to recycle the memories into a new memory.

Well yesterday certainly sucked! I'm impressed that you had the where with all to send valentines at all.

Enjoy your night. I hope you have plenty of wine on hand.

I hope the pieces can be used. It sounds like a good place for them.

I hope thai food was good and movies didn't suck (sorry-- we've seen a few duds lately).
