Ahhhhh

I have had the same coffeemaker for years. It has that function where you can program it the night before and wake up to freshly brewed coffee. I did that for the first time last night.

Why have I never done this before?

As I stepped out of the shower, I could hear the pot gurgling and smell the delicious aroma of coffee. Lovely, lovely, lovely. This is going to be a habit for sure.

ome habits are very easy to get used to aren't they!

It is my favorite gadget, my programmable coffee pot. More than anything else is the wonderful smell when I get up.
Several years ago I was indulged with a grind-and-brew, so it grinds the beans fresh in the morning. Spoiled.

Morning coffee that beckons you before you've even reached the kitchen is seriously one of those perfect daily gifts to oneself. (I've even dragged myself out of bed at night to set the timer function when I've realized I've forgotten to do it - even when i'm mere seconds from delicious sleep -- just to have that a.m. treat).

We do that every night. It's a good smell to wake up to and one less thing to have to do in the morning when you're half-unconscious (at least I am).

it's a beautiful thing, isn't it. ;)

That sounds wonderful. I should look into getting one of those!

Another bad/good habit is a Senseo machine. It brews one cup at a time, but puts a luxurious foam on the top, making you feel like you are in a European bistro, even though you are in your kitchen with toddlers pulling on your robe.
The Senseo brand coffee tastes great too.
It is good to find ways to treat ourselves well.

'Glad you're finding more "small joys." :) Hopefully, there will be many more for you and your kiddos this season, snow and ice be damned!

If you get a chance to watch today's Oprah via rerun tonight please do. It's amazing and made me think of you.

synopsis of what it's about: If you could spend one more day with someone you have loved and lost, what would you say? Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven, poses that powerful question in his best-selling novel For One More Day.

I rarely watch Oprah but I had it on while doing the holiday cards and Wow, it's powerful.

I, myself, am a fan of the single-cup machine we have. And that whizzing thingie that gets me foamy milk for a home-made latter. And they are about to start selling Starbucks pods for our machine. So you know, I will be altogether set.
Care for a cup?

Julia--

Yes, of course I'd like a cup! We should totally have coffee date.

Mine is programmable (is that a word?) but I prefer to have it all set up and ready whenever I may want to have a cup! (After having a cup I automatically refill the water and coffee. All ready to go..)

And it drags my night owl butt out of bed. All I have... to... do.. is get... out .. of bed.. flick the switch.. have the morning pee and there it is, right on time!

Oh the programmable coffee maker is the BEST!!! Couldn't survive by morning without it. love your blog, snick. I know the holidays might be tough- many are here thinking of you.
