Catch-All

In-laws went home. It was a stressful, but blissfully short visit.

I gave Maddie her first haircut today while she ate lunch. I just trimmed some long bits in the back by her ears. The locks were dutifully saved in an envelope and put in the baby book.

Last Friday, I had to return some slippers for the kids at the Land's End store that is within the sears store at our local mall. While there, I bought myself two pair of pants: jeans an camel-colored cords. I'm totally in love with them. I don't think I'll ever buy pants anywhere else.

We're spending the night at a friend's house. I'll get to do an in-law debrief once the kids are in bed. That will be nice. On the way over, I'm going to stop at Starbucks and get myself a much-needed Peppermint Mocha, just the way I like it.

I asked Riley for a hug while we were playing in the playroom this afternoon. Reply? A resounding NO. Trying not to have a bruised ego.

Currently watching Colts/KC game while babies nap. The camera just panned over the Colts cheerleaders. Why, exactly do women want to be NFL cheerleaders? Why exactly are cheerleaders still a part of pro sports? Another reason to love baseball.

So how much is Starbucks paying for this excellent product placement! :)

Since you and the children are all they have left of their son, it has to be terribly intense when they visit. All that grief and expectation while you are dealing with the loss of John yourself. Thinking of you and wishing you the best

I totally agree with you on the cheerleader issue. These are grown women, adults, out there jumping around making fools of themselves.

Glad you survived the in-law visit and hope they did not cause too much disturbance/furniture/plant changing.

I find your stories of them in the past completely bizarre. My MIL is the sweetest woman, so very easy to please and entertain. I guess I got lucky, VERY lucky! I'm sorry to say it but yours are downright INTRUSIVE!

Glad you survived.

You know, CMT has a whole show devoted to answering that very question. It's called Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, and I'm ashamed to say that it is totally addictive -- the finest in trash TV.

When my 2 1/2 year old tells me no for a hug and kiss I respect that even though I WANT that hug or kiss. Now though if she sees mommy getting hugs from daddy she has to have some of the action. She is also getting more loveable and she is finally starting to give me hugs and kisses because she wants to. Next time you want a hug or a kiss from one the kids give a hug or kiss to the other one and see if that works!!
