OMG WTF

At around 7:00 this morning, I checked my cell phone messages. I had a call from a friend of my dad's. My dad is, along with this friend, on a three-week vacation in Europe. As soon as I heard his friend's voice, I knew that something was wrong. Why else would his friend call me?

My dad has been in a motorcycle accident. He's going to be OK, but his leg is broken in multiple places. I don't know the details; so far, I've only been able to exchange voice mails with the friend. From what I understand, it's not a compound fracture, but my dad did need surgery. It's totally unclear to me how the accident happened, how long he'll be in Germany, and when I'll get to talk to him.

What is up with this year?

You and your Dad are in my prayers. I'm so sorry this has happened, and so far from home.

OMG. Fate or karma or whatever better have you winning the lottery next year. We're thinking of you and your dad and wishing for the best.

Your dad is lucky, it sounds like it's not life-threatening. He's in Germany, which has excellent doctors. Most of the population speaks English. I'm sure he's in good hands. There's no way you could not be worried, but it sounds like everything is going to be fine and your dad will have a great story to tell.

I know it's one more awful thing that's happened to you and your loved ones this year. Just know it will get better and give those babies a hug.

Oh no!!!

Hey listen, I am in Germany (I am had emailed you earlier this week about DoDDS). If he is in my area and there is anything I can do, I would be more than happy to help in any way I can. Just let me know.

Oh, Snick! So sorry to hear that. I will concur with ccinnkeeper, though, that the medical care in Germany is excellent. Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

Best medical care in the world! But I know... it seems when a year can't get worse, it proves that it can at least keep being shitty.

~Oh Snick...that's just miserable.
I was all set to say that if there was anything I could do from UK, that being at least marginally nearer Germany than you are, to put me on your "Help" list...but see that rebecca is on the doorstep...still...if there's anything.
Meanwhile, I hate this year for you
and I'm praying that you and yours get a break soon.

wtf only begins to cover it, though it is indeed good that he's going to be alright and is getting good care. But still, wtf! 2007 OWES you, to say the least!

How scary. Hope he gets better soon. Do you know Kath @ Inhospitable? She's an American living in Germany and I think her husband is a doctor? Maybe she can find out some info for you?

I'm so sorry, Snick. Hope is recovery is swift.

Oh, yeesh. If it's not one thing...

Prayers for a speedy recovery for your dad.

Sorry I've missed commenting on your posts a lot lately. I've been reading, though. Glad that the twins are doing so well, and you've found ways to encourage self feeding. How awesome that the bowls also have a suction on them, and you don't have to go shopping for new ones.

Thinking of you and yours.

Hope Dad is doing ok.

Dear Universe,

Please stop phxcking with Snickollet. If you have a shit quota you are trying to meet, I can direct you to several individuals who are much more deserving of this sort of thing than Snickollet.

K thx bye.

I am SO SORRY. He's in a place where he can get excellent medical care, but that place is far from home, and that makes everything triply hard.

I'll be keeping you and your Dad in my thoughts ...

Oh, no. This you don't need.

I hope you hear soon that he's going to be fine.

This year sucks. There is no other way to put it.

The only explanation I have is that you're a strong, resilient person in comparison to the mealy mouth fools who can't handle chipping a nail.

Here's to your dad's quick recovery.

I'm so glad you and the kids are experimenting with eating...and that you're also fighting the good fight with the THROWING FOOD HELL!

Buddha still sometimes does it, and it kils me every damn time!

Would this be the perfect excuse to visit Germany? :( Hoping his recovery is swift and he has all the proper travel insurance for this sort of thing.

I think it is time to tell the universe you have HAD ENOUGH misfortune for this year TYVM! Cripes.

Dear 2007:

STOP IT ALREADY! Can't you see this woman has had ENOUGH!?!?!?

Please go pick on The Preznit instead.

Thank you,
A concerned Democrat

Oh Snick. Oh man. WTF is about right. I hope your Dad recovers soon and does NOT do the autobahn on a motorcyle ever. again.

Whew! I missed a week of blogging and SO much has happened in your world. I'm sorry about your Dad, but glad it's not worse than that.

I hear you on the restlessness in career. I know before we moved from Baltimore I was writhing and thrashing inside all the time trying to figure out a way out of my job. If you're feeling that frustrated, a career counselor sounds like a wonderful option. Headhunters can be a great help as well.

You're in my prayers.
