Just talked to GH who is in the middle of a looooong chemo infusion at the clinic. He saw his doctor today and got some fan-freaking-tastic news.
After just two weeks of treatment on the new chemo regimen, his tumor marker numbers (proteins that provide gross measurements of cancer activity in the body) are down by HALF. Yes, a 50% reduction. After two infusions. That is unreal, and in a good way.
As a comparison, when he first started getting chemo (way back in September 2004), the markers stabilized almost immediately, but we waited for nearly two months before we saw an actual reduction. Even then it was by an amount that was statistically insignificant.
Liver function tests are all but normal; just one ever so slightly out of the normal range, but edging closer every week.
I know all of this is a respite, not a cure, but boy howdy is it a welcome respite. Celebration tonight at our place!

This post made me cry in a way that the sad ones don't. Sudden, spontaneous warm tears of joy.
That is pretty much miraculous--enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your celebration. We're celebrating for you.
