Good Things

Any day now, I should have a Wii Fit in my hot little hands. A blog reader scored one for me and it is winging its way cross-country via UPS. I have the Best Blog Readers Ever.

Maddie and Riley had their two-year-old well child appointments today. They passed with flying colors. The pediatrician said, "At this age, I want to see children put together two-word phrases. These two speak in paragraphs." It's true. Maddie is 90th percentile for weight (30 lbs. 10 oz.), height (35.75 inches), and head size. Riley is 75th for all (29 pounds even, 35.5 inches). Go, babies!

Riley has been going to bed with no fuss and sometimes sleeping through/sometimes waking up once and requiring only a moment's soothing to go back to sleep. I'm knocking on lots of wood, but hallelujah.

So You Think You Can Dance is on tonight! It's still no Idol, but I am pretty into it. My favorites: Twitch & Kherington, Joshua & Katee, Courtney & Gev. And Will. Will is hot. Oh, and how could I forget Mark & Chelsie?

The twins are obsessed with the park. Any park will do. They love parks. When I pick them up from daycare, they beg to go to the park. I love watching them explore and learn.

I'm continuing to feel calmer these days since the anger realization. On the flip side, I also feel boring, tired, and slow. I guess that's preferable to strung-out and edgy. My evenings with the twins have had a relaxed ease about them that has really been refreshing. It's not all unicorns and rainbows, for sure, but it's just more mellow and roll-with-the-punches. Want to go to the park after school? Sure! Want to read an extra story tonight? Why not! Want to eat pretzels and frozen fruit bars for dinner? Why the hell not!

It's hot out. Really hot. But I have central air.

Good things, indeed. I'm so glad Riley's sleeping seems to be improving, and am crossing my fingers for you. And of course they both passed their appointments with flying colors. Those kids talk more than just about any others I've seen.

Boring beats strung-out, that's for sure. Glad you're feeling mellow. Mellow is what summer days are all about (and I'm sitting in my home office enjoying my central air, too--mmmm).

Yay for the Wii Fit! I can't wait to hear what you think.

I wanna come to your place for dinner! Glad you are feeling calmer!

Seems appropriate that you and John would have verbally adept children! That's great news.

Glad you're feeling more relaxed, too.

Noa, Marnie, Liam and I are headed to my cousin's in the Catskills tomorrow for a "vacation". They raised twin boys and say they're prepared for us - time will tell.

I'm going to take your cool-as-cucumbers attitude with us on our trip. Maybe we'll have frozen fruit and pretzels all weekend!

Thinking of you.

Yes-- central air is life saver these days. Seriously.

It's so cool to read about the kids now. I loved when the sentences and paragraphs showed up-- so very interesting to hear her express wants and thoughts. Still very interesting to this day.

You got some big babies, my friend! And congrats about the sleeping through the night thing -- I have to say that my Boo has done that three nights in a row, and we are thrilled. Enjoy the AC!

Paragraphs...that made me smile big time..!!! Clever little possums they are...I learned so much about the world from my daughter when she was two, a lot about myself too.

Do they have their own special "twin language"..?? A friend has boy/girl twins who communicate in their own amazing language, it's just amazing to hear, they seem to understand each other perfectly.

"Boring, tired and slow" has to be better than strung out and angry...perhaps it's the Summer lassitude kicking in..??

Enjoy...

Glad all feeling better!

I just got my Wii Fit - Love.it. Can't wait to hear what you think.

Oooh, you'll love your Fit! I could do the silly step routines all day, along with the hula hoop games. Sadly I SUCK at anything that requires balance - it officially labels me as an unbalanced couch potato. Oh well... pass the chips! :)

(And I couldn't believe that the games even nags you! It got on my case for exercising too late at night, for skipping a day, etc... Such a motivator!)

"why the hell not" is close to my summer mantra - and when I remember to use it, things go smoother. For me, it is all about remembering to let go - when practical - of my desire to have things go the way I want them to. I want Cora to go to bed at 7:30. Cora is not sleepy enough at 7:30. I can be miserable for an extra hour every night or I can realize that she just needs a little elss sleep now than she did a few months ago. Starting bedtime at 8:00 means I have a little less time to myself...but I would have less time in a worse way if I keep pushing my arbitrary schedule. Does that make sense to anyone but me?

Let's hear it for being calm!

Your kids are glorious! Love them!

Buddha had french fries and lemonade for dinner tonight - we were at the fair. Had I had not blown my wad on ride tickets, I would have willingly fed him a caramel apple for dessert.

Can't wait to hear about the Wii Fit. I am soooo thinking about snatching one for myself!

It is amazing sometimes how just being aware of what is behind how I'm behaving makes me be different... Glad things are freer for you.

Don't you love great reports like that from the pediatrician? Congrats!

Congrats on your state of mind too. I bet there are new things waiting for you just around the corner. New opportunities or something. That's what always happens.

I love Wii Fit. I hope you do too.

Congrats on receiving the gift of more sleep! That's always a good thing.

My summer mellow is being tested this weekend - it's our (mine, really) first weekend away from the boy (who turns 18 months old on the 16th). He's been ready for quite a while - his mommy, less so.

Being here in central Arkansas, I understand how your life revolves around air-conditioned areas. We all pretty much run from our cars indoors around this time of year.

Can't wait for a Fit review!

Hooray for strong, smart babies! Must be all those frozen fruit bars and pretzels!

Hooray! I am so happy you're into SYTYCD. I always end up jumping around my house trying out the moves, with my pets watching me. And yes, I'm in my thirties. =)

Oh, thank goodness you are on the SYTYCD bandwagon! I loved your AI recaps. (Nigel = ooky lech; Mark = hot Mr. Bean; Kherington = Sharon Stone-ish?)

And YAY for healthy, happy, verbal babies, and happier SnickMama. YAY!

Oh, I love my wii fit. So far I'm down 8 pounds after getting it.

(delurking with wii love.)

Congrats on the calm, I was a single mama to one and I remember there were days I just had to roll with it. And that's sooooooo not easy.

Hi, we are glad you took some silent time, but we missed you. I'm not surprised if crash course widow's blog contributed in some way to your finding yourself jolted out of a numbness. how is your anger, now?
