Bye-bye, Brooke.

No more Brooke White on Idol. I think that Jason should have been the one to go, but he's a cute, young boy, so there you have it. It really is a popularity contest, not so much a singing contest, although it's true that I don't think any of the folks who have been sent home were destined to win. Some of them have just not been sent home in order of talent, or rather, lack thereof. Jason's time draws near, although I think his fan base is bigger than Syesha's, so perhaps he'll make the top three. We'll see.

Legends of Rock next week. I'm not super-excited about that theme, but the upside is that it will give David Cook a chance to really shine and it will challenge David Archuleta, Jason, and Syesha.

Anyone out there (other than What A Card, who I already know is a fan) watch So You Think You Can Dance? I'm already feeling sad about Idol season drawing to a close and I'm considering watching SYTYCD in its place.

WAHHHH! I'm still crying about Brooke leaving! But am totally jumping on the SYTYCD wagon now that I have DVR!

I've been reading your post or lurking as they say for several weeks now. I'm also so sad to see Brooke leave the show...I agree that Jason should've been the one to go. I've never seen SYTYCD but the previews are starting to suck me in. Have a nice day...your babies are beautiful!

I LOVE So You Think You Can Dance... And find that the overall talent level of the competitors is much higher than American Idol (and that's not a knock against the latter... just an observation). I think you would really enjoy it!

ah! you must watch SYTYCD!!! i used to be a huge AI fan, but i feel like the show has grown stale and i have barely watched any of it this season.

SYTYCD, on the other hand, seems to improve with each season. the contestants are great and their skill level is beyond impressive. :) i think you'll really enjoy it!

I agree with Chorus: the talent level is higher on SYTYCD. I love the show, though I fast forward through a lot of the judges comments when they get a little gushy/wordy. The dancing, however, is so fun to watch.

I was very sad for sweet, sweet Brooke, but I just know it's going to be a Battle of the Davids. Yay!

I'm also starting to suffer from Idol withdrawal and am wondering if there's anything out there that can take its place. I mean, I love the regular shows I watch, but Idol is just so much fun. I'm going to miss it.

I love SYTYCD!! I think you will too. Amber is right, the skill level is amazing. Sometimes I fool myself into thinking I can sing when I watch AI, but I know I cannot dance when I watch SYTYCD.

My HUSBAND loves SYTYCD...We've been watching since the beginning and love it way more than Idol...check it out!

LOVE SYTYCD!!!! So, much fun, such talented dancers. Give it a try past the auditions, which like AI, I could take or leave.

I totally heart SYTYCD!

SYTYCD is AMAZING. I like Idol, but I watch it more to make fun of it and talk to my parents about it than out of any great affection for it. But SYTYCD is a whole other story - the talent level is amazing, for one. Secondly, there are amazing choreographers who are experts in their fields doing the choreography, and therefore you don't get the constant comments about "poor song choice" that you do on Idol for the simple reason that the dancers aren't doing the choosing of style / song / choreography. Plus it's just amazing. My best friend and I actually went to the tour last year (at the ages of 27 and 31), and I have been mercilessly teased since then, but it was the best night ever.

I am an avid AI watcher, but I have to say that I like SYTYCD way more. Plus the results show is way better, because the dancers have to do a new dance. You must watch it. It is a delight.

I, too, LOVE SYTYCD. Did you see the previews? OMG, they are amazing! What humans can do with their body! WOW!

I like So You Think You Can Dance better than Idol. They have great choreographers, and some of the dances they end up doing are unforgettable. Unlike Jason, etc. on Idol who are pretty forgettable.
Where in the World is Taylor Hicks???

SYTYCD is amazing, amazing. Here's what you can do... check out clips on YouTube of some of the best performances from last year. CRAZY awesome.

Neil and Sabra's table dance. OMG:

Sabra & Dominic make it work:

I believe I may waste the rest of my work day watching SYTYCD clips on YouTube!

Totally agree with everything said already about SYTYCD!!! I was going to say all that but they beat me to it. We are such dorks that we too went to the live show (at 34 and 33! we are even dorkier than doctorsquared!). When it starts I'll have to come to your place (or you can come here, if you get a sitter) and we can watch together. It's SO MUCH FUN. And yes, the talent level is several orders of magnitude higher than on AI. I can't even watch AI anymore, it hurts my ears.

Love you,
Woburn Jen

So You Think You Can Dance is my guilty summer TV pleasure. I don't tell ANYONE I watch it, but I love it. It's like a train wreck... you want to turn away, but you're drawn in for some reason.

PS - love your blog!

I watched a SYTYCD marathon one Saturday a while back, and I was utterly hooked. It was interesting to watch the dancers develop chemistry, to see them struggle to learn each other's styles from week to week, etc. I really REALLY enjoyed it. Have fun. =)

LOVE SYTYCD!!!! I enjoy it so much more than Idol. Give it a chance, I think you might enjoy it.

Yes! Watch SYTYCD! I watched for the first time in the middle of last season and was hooked immediately. I wish I had started sooner! (and I haven't seen Idol since the second season, so I really can't compare)

I thought I was the only person who liked So You Think You Can Dance (although how could that be if the show keeps coming back). My oldest daughter, Eve, absolutely loves it (she's almost 9). When I was in the hospital having my third baby two summers ago I had to make special arrangements with my in-laws to let her stay up until 10:00 to watch the finale. I thought she would kill me or her new baby sister if she missed the last show. It made me laugh though. Most parents go over their kids' food preferences, activities, medications, etc. when dropping the kids off for babysitting for a couple days. I, on the other hand, was primarly concerned with my daughter's tv schedule.

Have watched the show every single year and our first baby-free date was going to the live show in Sacramento for 50 bucks a pop. Now you know all my secrets. The ones you didn't know already, that is.

I love, love, love SYTYCD! I discovered it last season and as much as I love Idol I love SYTYCD even more! It's great that it starts the night after Idol ends so there is no withdrawal in between. I hope they bring back Next Great American Band after that!

Yes, I'm ridiculously excited about SYTYCD. I'm a big-time sucker for dance, though. You should see me whenever a dance movie comes on: Centre Stage, Save the Last Dance, Strictly Ballroom, and don't even get me going about how awesomely awesome Dirty Dancing is :)

It's just like AI, but with dancing instead of singing. Truly unbelievable dancing...so much fun! I can't wait!

guilty. i also watch SYTYCD. love the hip hop stuff.

Absolutely love SYTYCD. Each week is a mixture of dance styles, so there's no question of being stuck with a whole show of material you can't stand. I'm in awe of the contestants' work ethic, and their development over the course of the show. The choreography has been strange and beautiful - look for the hummingbird routine from the last season.

Here in the UK, we've only just seen last year's series, so there will be some serious spoilers going on soon...

I watch SYTYCD and its fabulous. The gal who won last year is actually from my DD dance studio!! I love how even though they are in the bottom two they can still "dance for their lives" and make a comeback. It truly is a sight to see these wonderful dancers come alive with all the choreography & music. I hope you enjoy.

I'm a 38 yr old mom to twin boys and a 10 year old and I LOVE watching SYTYCD!!! It's a great show to TiVo--try it!

:) My husband and I have watch SYTYCD since the beginning. . . it's seriously amazing. Some of the dances give me chills or make me tear up. You will love it. We save episodes and watch them over and over. :)
