Something Funny for Once

Every night while Maddie and Riley have dinner, I set up the coffee for the next morning. This involves throwing out the grounds from that day's pot and putting fresh grounds in for the next day. The kids watch me throw out the "old yucky" coffee and love to smell the fresh, new coffee that I put in the filter.

Last night, the twins were in my bedroom with me while I was changing from work clothes into PJs. I pulled my shirt over my head and unhooked my bra. Maddie watched in fascination.

"Mama," she said, pointing at my chest, "old yucky boobies!"

I admit that they aren't what they used to be, but are they really that bad? My attempts to get her to say beautiful or luscious were unsuccessful, I'm afraid.

**************************************
We had a better night last night. Maddie slept straight through for 12 hours. Riley woke up screaming and needed a hug twice, but went right back to sleep after a hug and kiss, and so basically slept for about 12 hours himself. I was in bed by 9:30 p.m., and other than the two Riley consolations, I slept until 6:30 a.m. You don't hear me complaining.

**************************************
The hot temp quit! I'm so bummed. He claims that he needs to work on his Masters' thesis blah blah blah. The truth is that things have been slow for the past little bit, and it doesn't make sense to keep paying him to come in and look good. He did say that he loves working here, though, and that if it ever gets busy, we should give him a call. Oh, you'd better believe we will do just that, Mr. Temp!

Drats about the temp.
Also, the boob comment is something I would store for later. Like for after hers aren't what they used to be, you know? :)

bummer about the hot temp.. i'm currently interviewing interns for our summer program and all i can think of is how one year all of the younger guys here slept with one of the interns. mortifying.

love the boobs comment.. that's so maddie! i could tell they got some good sleep last night when i dropped the big guy off this morning. riley gave me a HUGE grin and waved and maddie said "hi ben baby mommy".

That booby comment is the best!!
I'm sure the Hot Temp would disagree ;)

That boob comment is hilarious. It sounds like something my daughter would have said at that age (she never spared my feelings either).

Hope you sleep even better tonight.

So glad to hear the sleeping news. Maybe your "old yucky boobies" will improve with sleep!

Sorry to hear about hot temp...I hope your paths cross again in the future. Good eye candy is an important part of the day.

I'm looking forward to the day Boo sleeps for 12 hours.

Yeah, there's a tasty morsel at the pharmacy I like to ogle. As my mom always said, I'm married, not dead. Makes picking up my scrips a whole lot more fun.

Stacey,
I read another blog called "Uppercase Woman" and this is from that site.
Thought you might be interested...

"Secondly, you may have noticed the new fancy flash ads that have appeared over in the right hand column. These ads are from the BlogHer Ad Network, and dudes--these guys actually pay pretty well. So you can feel good about clicking on those ads. Really. Cause you will be putting food in Tori's mouth, or at least helping my pay for our health benefits (right now it looks like I'm on track to actually earn enough from them to at least pay for my health insurance each month, and that's a huge help)"

Hope you're still going to try that yourself... a little extra money.

I got to chat three times today with a vendor who had a fantastic Aussie accent. Certainly made the day go by faster!

Glad you got some sleep!

I hope you taught her that bra's are "nipple suits", my favorite toddlerism to date. It occurred to me recently that perhaps the reason that N calls them that is that they don't have much purpose anymore other than to cover the nipple. For which he and his brother are responsible. I'll tell you one thing you can probably look forward to: they won't be 18 months old anymore. I felt the same about 2 1/2, but there were some very good months in between!

I love the OLD YUCKY BOOBIES thing! I found your site through Expatriate Games... My son who is the same age as your adorable twins, is just as complimentary. When I forget to remove my eyeliner and mascara before bed, he wakes up and looks at me, and says, "Mama black eye! Mama TWO black eyes!" Great.

I sigh for you at the loss of Mr. McTemp

Love the boobs comment, I'm sure compared to me, yours are fresh, perky and oh so marvelous!
Boohoo on Mr.Temp, let's hope there's a big project on the horizon very, very soon.

That's ok. My 3 yr old son frequently calls me "old and gross". I told him not to drink stale apple juice from his cup once using that description. Sooo.. Mommy equals fermented apple juice. NICE.
