I bought myself some new underwear. I really know how to live it up, don't I? In a daring move, I bought boyshorts. In underwear as in all things, I favor comfort, and they seemed like a very comfy option.
I've worn them a few times now, and frankly, I find them strange. They are comfortable enough. They stay in place. But instead of making me feel sexy, they make me feel like I'm wearing granny panties. Did I buy an inferior brand (I think they are Danskin)? Are they just not my style? I think I'm going to have to go back to my tried-and-true Jockeys in a tube.

Your link to granny panties is hilarious!!! Maybe you just need to get used to your new purchase. :)
I hate those. I thought the same thing that they would be comfortable, but I feel like granny too and they ride up. No good!
Granny panties, too funny! I favor cotton jockeys myself.
I wear them myself and I love them. I bought a pack of two at Target - they are Hanes Her Way. Very comfy and they don't ride up even when I wear them with pants for work. Good luck!
Comfort above all things. Especially when it comes to intimate apparel. I have a few thongs (aka. butt floss) to wear under slacks that would otherwise have VPL, but my everyday comfortable undies are cotton jockey high-thigh. Can't do bikini because they roll at my tummy and annoy the living $#!% out of me. If the boy shorts don't feel right, then by all means, save them for the heavy days (if you know what I mean), and buy yourself something comfortable.
Ahem. Joining you on the TMI border:
I've got the glorious 'pear' shape with a predisposition toward 'saddlebags'. Boy shorts have to be the most unflattering invention known to pear shapes.
Have you tried the Victoria Secret 5 for $25 cotton undies? They feel a bit sexier than jockey or hanes, but just as comfy.
I'm with OTRgirl on this one, in that I love Victoria's Secret 5 for $25. I occassionally try to break out of my rut and get something different, but time and again, for over 10 years now, those remain my favorites, for comfort and feeling good about myself.
Boy shorts didn't work for me at all, not even from VS.
I've just spent the first 2 hours of my work day perusing your blog and I'm definitely adding it to "My Favorite Blogs" list on my blog (though, I'm not sure how many people actually ready mine). Thank you for sharing everything you have - I've teared up (and my desk is like being in a fish bowl), I've giggled, and I've thought a lot about life's curve balls. I've also recently made the switch from granny panties to boyshorts - hysterical!
I am doing some research on breastfeeding multiples for a presentation I have to do next week. I just read this in an article on AAP. It reminded me of your post from the other day about being overwhelmed. This was for two parent families, so it can only be harder for you. So know you aren't alone and that your feelings are valid. You are a great mom!
In triadic relationships, the parent is forced to deal with not only each individual child’s personality, but also the "twin" group dynamic. This situation may lead to substantial parental guilt. Parents naturally feel that they are shortchanging their children and that they are not able meet the psychological, physical, and emotional needs of all their children while being fair.
After a week, thongs will become your bff. I hated them with a passion until Day 8 and then BING! Never going back!
I'd have to recommend the Body by Victoria low-rise briefs. Sooo comfortable!
Damn! I love myself some boy-cut panties. Adore them is more like it. I'm very picky about my undies and refuse to go the granny panty route. We need to find you some different undies, sister!
Hey!! What's wrong with granny panties?? :'/ lol
Several of my girlfriends swear by these thongs called Hanky Pankies. Apparently they are super-comfortable. Let me add that these women are 30-something mothers, and want comfort above all else, so these must be amazing! Apparently they are pretty, too.
I've never been a fan of boyshorts. It always seems as if they are either riding too high..or too low. Plus, they seem to get "saggy" kind of quickly. So, by the end of the day they're barely holding up anymore and I'm spending half of my day (after chasing a 2 year old) pulling up my underwear. I like regular bikini panties. that's where it's at.
All three of my daughters LOVE the boy shorts.
i love my body by victoria, even their boyshorts, and their "cheekies", very comfy...I hate the granny panty!
You are so funny! But really, underwear choice is of utmost importance in a woman's life. I have never felt comfortable in boy shorts (I think my butt's too round), but do love virtually any in Target's label (Gilligan & O’Malley®). I discovered them right after my c-section - they don't really have seams/waistbands, so all (granny, thong, inbetween) are so comfy!
My daughter is with you - she hates the boy shorts. I've never tried them myself but since everything else seems to creep toward the center just seems like more to have to adjust. I'll stick with the current style.
i 2nd amy's comment about the hanky pankies. after hearing people rave about them, i finally bought a pair and i am hooked. they are one-size-fits-all, which seems crazy, and somehow they are amazingly comfy and sexy at the same time.
All boy shorts are not made equal. Try Joe Boxer's, they are the bomb. Fun colors and patterns, and like 6 pairs for 7 bucks at K-mart.
