Yes, I have a Master's degree,

and yet today I still put the stamp on the upper-left corner of the envelope and the return address sticker on the upper-right.

That's OK. I have a PhD, and once tried to let myself into my office by beeping the door handle with my car thingy. My office door was right next to the desk of our department's administrative assistant, and all I could think was how glad I was that I'd gotten to work before she had....

It's certainly understandable that your attention is elsewhere these days. Hang in there, and know that many thoughts are with you.

Once I forgot my mother's name. I went to introduce her and said, "This is my mother, _____________!" I think Kristin hits it in her last paragraph...

Hmmm...somewhat unrelated. When I try to link to "snickollet.blogspot.com" I'm directed to a non-functional "www.targetlanguage.com" site? When I linked to "www.snick..." I got here. If you haven't set something up, then your site has been hijacked?

I had the same issue when I went to my bookmarks and tried to get to your site - some 'targetlanguage.com' site.

Delurking to say hang in there.

Problem should be fixed now. Let me know if you still have issues. I have my own domain name (targetlanguage.com) and tried to change my blogger settings to have that URL work for me. Didn't work. Back to snickollet.blogspot.com. Why mess with what works, I say.

Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. Know that you are in the thoughts of many and that you have inspired at least one person to make every day count. Even though I am sure your letter would have arrived at its destination, we all have these weird mind benders every once in a while, and we are all entitled to them.

I'll join the Brilliant Dunce Club. I have two Master's degrees and the other day I had trouble putting a bill into the envelope so that the address would show in that stupid little window. I had to open and re-tape the envelope shut twice before I got it right.

P.S. I am an infertile oncology nurse. Found your blog only about a month ago. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Master's and PhD. Completely overeducated. But still can never, ever find my keys.

I can't tell you how many times I've done that. I mean, there's no logical way to figure out which side the address goes on and which side the stamp goes on. It's totally arbitrary.

I'm in grad school right now and I truly believe it's making me a little dummer....or is it more stupid???

We all know that your level of education, right now, is not the determining factor in your ability to function. We are all in awe of your ability to carry on. I know you'd say you have to, but still...
Thinking of you daily.

You know when you are going through a rough place you do crazy things. Once I sent a package to myself instead my sister. I couldn't stop laughing when I realized what I did after it almost got taken to the mailbox.

HUGS!

Okay, if it's contest: I have a PhD and *two* master's degrees from separate institutions AND I routinely address my envelopes upside down. I tell people that I have been educated far beyond any useful or productive purpose in life. And I am not kidding.

Sending love to you and the little ones....I know each day has its own, different rough spots--envelope challenges aside!

Your mind is just processing bigger things right now.

I would suggest leaving an note for yourself that says "my purse is in the freezer" because one day it will be {at least mine was}.

Hon, if you've got your bottom half covered when you go out the door, I think you'd be golden right about now. If "something's gotta give" only means your stamps and and address lables get mixed up, you're definately golden.

Okay, I have a masters, too, and I did something even stooopider. I was dressing at the gym locker room into a sleaveless shirt and I put my head in the armhole not once...but twice! There is no hope that no one saw that. Since I've had kids I've been much spacier. Need to work on that.

I prefer to think you were subconsciously adding a touch of much needed whimsy to the otherwise banal days of many postal workers.

Some prestamped envelopes are coming your way. You have bigger fish to fry these days, sister!

Look for a care package in the next few days! You deserve it.

Mucho love to you and the kidlets!

I stayed up till 1.30 last night reading your archives, catching up.

Hoping today is a smooth one for you. Wish there was something I could do to help. I have twins too (9 years) and remember how hard the first year was in normal circumstances.

I love otrgirl's story about forgetting her mom's name. My mother gets stuck on my name all the time: she goes through the names of all my other sisters until she hits the right one. Most often, she flips my name (oldest) with the name of my youngest sister, who patiently reminds her, "Mom, I'm not Kristin...."

Hang in there -

I stopped myself from doing the same thing yesterday.

When you run all over your house looking for the pot full of hot coffee you can't find, scared to death your 4 year old has it, you have reached my level. I did this after the death of a brother in law. It was in the kitchen cabinet where the cups are.............

I once unloaded all the shopping into the car and took off -- with the back door wide open. I couldn't understand why people kept shouting at me and pointing till I turned a corner and the door shut on its own. I also always used to put the kids in the car first in case I forgot them too.

Just after my dad died, my mother regularly put the butter in the airing cupboard...and also, on occasion, the laundry in the fridge.
One time, I opened the fridge and a clutch of wire coathangers fell out...Me, with my Masters and all, carefully put them back in again. My first born was about 9 months old at the time.
Nuff said???
Hang on in there. Hugs and prayers continue xx

While going through a family crisis last year my father was on the phone with someone who asked him for his address. My Dad, the coolest cucumber on the block, panicked and shouted "Oh geez! I have no clue!". The person on the phone said, "Oh, did you just move?", to which my Dad replied "No...that's the sad part. I've lived here for 20 years".

Sometimes our mind is just elsewhere. Thinking thoughts of you today.

Are you Ok? Let us know how you are doing. Having only found you recently I have to confess I check daily to see if you have posted.

Hoping you are finding some sort of peace during this very (damned :( difficult time.

Don't worry, the brain has it's own priorities. I make all sorts of weird little mistakes but I figure as long as my kids are well and healthy and all the bills are sort of paid on time, we're good to go.
