Poor GH is home from school again today. The great news we got on Wednesday regarding his tumor markers definitely comes at a price; this treatment he's on is aggressive. Worth it, but aggressive. The main side effect is diarrhea, and GH spent yesterday evening and then all night scampering back and forth between bed and bathroom. No fun.
He's being very good about keeping hydrated and fed even if it doesn't stick with him for long. And he had prescription-strength meds to get the situation under control, but I'm not sure the meds are staying in him long enough to work. He's been losing weight lately, too, so the diarrhea situation doesn't help with that.
This has happened the previous two weeks of this treatment and should resolve in the next day or so. It's just exhausting and unpleasant. But that's a pretty good summary of cancer. As long as it's working, a few days of feeling like crap more than balance out the string of good days that are the payoff.

That sounds dreadful. Good in the overall context and all, but no fun.
Slightly related on the weight loss issue, Jrex mentioned that part of why cancer patients like marijuana is cause it makes them hungry. Helps fight the weight loss. Not that I'm advocating, it was just funny to hear from my clean, straight, sober Korean husband.
Poor fellow. Thinking of y'all.
Sorry. Thinking of you.
